So who is this "Mistress" anyway?
Hi. I'm Tracy. The whole "mistress"
thing is just to get your attention, I'm not at all a taskmaster
(which isn't to say you won't get a good workout!).
I've been in good shape for years, but my workouts had become routine and it was time to mix it up. I'd heard Pilates was good for core strength and flexibility so, knowing nothing else about it, I decided to try Pilates. How could I know that first lesson was the beginning of a journey that would change my life? And my body? I'm not
sure what I thought I was getting myself into, but I was not at
all prepared for a full body strength training session.
And I thought all those hours in the gym had made me strong! It
was as if a puzzle piece fell into place. I didn't know I'd been
looking for something, but I found it in Pilates.
My Pilates teaching certification is
from Body Arts & Sciences,
Int'l, the teaching program designed by Pilates Master Rael
Isacowitz. The BASI approach honors the original repertoire of Joseph Pilates and teaches the essence of his philosophy. Yet, each exercise is continually evaluated and modified as required to keep the repertoire safe and effective as we continue to learn more about the science of human movement.
